Todd Ballantyne has over 30 years of research and development experience covering complex electro-mechanical systems for a variety of industries including life sciences, medical devices, machine vision and defense.

Most recently Mr. Ballantyne led the Rapid Micro Biosystems software and vision teams, delivering innovation and improved customer experience for the Growth Direct® System. Prior to joining Rapid Micro Biosystems, Mr. Ballantyne held a range of roles including leading the Medtronic Hugo™ surgical robotics software team and the DEKA R&D Vivia hemodialysis systems team.

Early career experiences included developing real-time embedded systems for a self-balancing wheelchair, a compression-distillation water purification device, the Coca-Cola Freestyle soft drink dispenser, video capture drivers, and military flight control computers.

Over his career Mr. Ballantyne has been a named inventor on patents ranging from computer backplane networking to surgical robotic arm control. Mr. Ballantyne earned his BA in Physics from Juniata College and his MS in Computer Science from Florida Tech.
